RS&A promoties innovative arts projects that cross the conventional boundaries of contemporary art.

Their brief was challenging: model a champagne bottle to match the real thing for a proposal. This was no easy task as the bottle is printed with a high relief tampo ink.

Firstly we had to scan 2D data from a 3D suface (the bottle) and lay this out as flat artwork.

Then we had to scan the additional components such as the cork and foil. Finally, the bottle itself needed to be modelled in 3D .

Using a combination of five rendering techniques in both modelling and visualisation software we scanned the 'bumpiness', the colour, the bottle shap and reflections to give a 'real' bottle on computer.

RS&A were delighted with the outcome and it enabled them to make a professional onwards proposal .
